Michael's uncle (who is still alive today) was the neighbour of Nelson Mandela when he spent nearly 7 years in the jail cell right next door to him, between 1972 and 1979, as a political prisoner on Robben Island.

We were slightly disappointed. The tour was less than an hour. The guide was knowledgable however not very enthusiastic and it was few stops with little information. He also made some strange comments about cultural differences and towads women. In the end when it came to the tips, the guide counted the money we gave him and we felt pressured to give him more. From how we have gotten to know free walking tours you are free to give what you can and like. This did not feel like it at all. So we ended up paying a quite high amount of money for a very short tour that we didn't really enjoy.
