This self guided walking tour was great. We especially loved the pier. Ilya included a bit of information about each historical place so we learned a bit on the way. It was helpful to have his PDF with suggested places to guide our time in Essaouira.

Really cool experience to guide yourself through Essaouira with the guide of this map. Showing you really authentic places and feeling like a local. Also what I really loved the most is that you can take your time and make it at your own peace. With the help of this map we managed to discover hidden places in Essaouira that we would never have found by ourselves. One of the highlights was the women’s cooperative in the medina. We were lucky to meet Hakima and try their tea with amlou, slilou and homemade honey - such a warm and authentic experience. Highly recommended if you want to see the real side of the city.
The guide cancelled the tour without telling us. Wasted a day of our trip then received a notification to leave a review for the tour. This is completely unprofessional and I won’t be using this guide app any more if this is the standard of people here. Do not trust booking with this guide, he obviously has no respect for other people.
Ilya was great! As an expat he really ingrained himself into the community and knew a lot about the culture and hip spots. He also supports locals, which I appreciated.
