We immensely enjoyed our tour and all the lovely treats we got to try. If you want to discover the taste of Bucharest in a lovely company with a wonderful guide, this is the tour for you. Ideally plan for it at the beginning of your trip as you will receive a lot of tips and recommendations for further exploration of the city and make sure you wear comfortable shoes as the tour takes a while. Worth every moment though! Planning to revisit a few spots with treats already.
Andrei was a super guide. He provided lots of great information while showing us wonderful food and coffee spots. Way too many sweets for me to try, but fortunately I have several more days to go back. Plus, he provided a list of places to go, restaurants, night venues, etc. Andrei answered lots of questions. He took his time, adjusting to the group's laid back pace. Everyone enjoyed the tour. I can't recommend this tour highly enough.
I love food walking tours and this one was very well done. The guide was enthusiastic and very friendly and told us about Romanian and Bucharest history, showing us important and/or interesting sights in the city and linked them to the people's views, which I was very interesting. In-between we made several food stops and the guide told us about the food culture (traditional as well as modern) and how it is connected to history. The food was yummy - you should really head the advice and bring an empty stomach! We were also sent a list of recommendations afterwards. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Andrea is wonderful, warm, and always smiling, with a lot of love and passion for helping us get to know Bucharest and its history, as well as introducing us to interesting places to eat. She is very articulate, pleasant, and engaging. I highly, highly recommend her.
Very informative and fun tour where we got to try a little of everything. Also very calm and pleasant pace.
Excellent, informative, comprehensive and delicious tour! Thank you, Andreea, we loved it! :)
Un walk lleno de información, entretenimiento y comida rica. Lo recomiendo
He is an amazing tour guide and in the way he tells the story makes you fall in love with the city as well. I really like the concept he proposed, food and history together, 100% recommend. Super friendly and interesting to talk to tour guide!
I first joined Andrei on the Tipsy Tour and enjoyed it so much that I decided to book another tour with him. Best decision ever. This food tour was amazing, with a great mix of food, history, and culture. The stories were fascinating, and the food stops were so good I had to come back for more.
Even in this challenging weather the Guru did not cancel. Overall it was a great experience 😃
There was a lot more history than i expected and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it to be educational and eye-opening to someone who is visiting Bucharest and Romania for the first time and knew very little about its storied past other than the world-class gymnasts they seem to effortlessly produce. The stories behind some monuments and relics are poignant. The food stops were good too! Highly recommend this tour.
Andrei was an excellent guide! The information presented was informative and entertaining. The food along the tour was tasty and sweet! Great pace and good stopping points. This was one of the better walking tours and other guests on this tour agreed.
It was amazing! The food spots were great. Nice to learn some history along the way!
Andreea was a great guide with an incredible knowledge of Romanian history. We had a lot of tasty treats and walked away with tons of food recommendations. Above and beyond our expectations, I would recommend it to anyone who wants an introduction to Bucharest!
✨ You don’t have to take my word for it — but if you want a new city or even your new home to truly come alive, meet the locals and follow them into a small, cozy café. You sit there, tasting something sweet, and suddenly realize — yes, this is life. And gratitude — right here, right now. 🍰 🎒 This time we decided to go beyond the usual sightseeing and joined a culinary tour through GuruWalk. I’ve always loved free walking tours — where people don’t try to sell you anything, but share their city with love. And as someone who also works with people, I can’t pass by such beautiful examples of genuine human connection. And that’s exactly what we found with Andreea @matees_andreea — young, humble, and full of that inner light that makes you feel instantly warm. She led our food tour through Bucharest’s historic center, but it wasn’t just a tour — it was a little adventure, filled with the aroma of coffee, freshly baked bread, and stories told straight from the heart by a true professional. We wandered through the city center and old town, listening to stories about monarchy, communism, people, and the flavors that have survived across eras. And at one point, I caught myself thinking — it’s love for what you do that makes a person truly beautiful, successful, and happy. 💫 So today, my special gratitude goes to Andreea — for doing her work with a smile, with soul, without pretension, and with deep respect for her travelers, her city, and her craft. If you ever find yourself in Bucharest, look for her tours — because in every word she speaks, the city itself comes alive. When you do what you love, even a simple walk becomes therapy — and every dessert becomes part of your spiritual practice. ✨
How often do you have a tour guide with several university degrees, including a masters in Eastern European history giving you a “free “tour of an amazing capital city? Andreea was fantastic! I have participated in dozens of this type of Tour and she is among the very best. I would highly recommend one of her many styles of tours.
Andrea was very professional and knowledgeable. She helped me find a nice gluten free restaurant after! Thanks andrea and good luck :)
she welcomed us with war pritzel and kept the warmth till the very end of the tour. took us to some amazing eating joints, she had lot of stories to share and was very professional
Wonderful tour. Andreea was lovely and I learned so much about the city's and the country's history. All the food stops were incredible, and I will definitely try them again during my stay.
I had an incredible experience on this Bucharest food tour! Our guide, Andrea, made the day truly special. Not only did she take us to some fantastic local spots with delicious recommendations, but she also brought the city’s history to life in such an engaging way. Andrea has a Master’s degree in Romanian history, and it shows—her knowledge and passion for the city gave so much depth and context to everything we saw and tasted.
Exceptional tour! 👍 I came for the food and learnt a lot about Bucharest between courses. Fun and tasty, highly recommend!
We joined a free tour with Andrea, and it was absolutely fantastic! She gave us a fascinating insight into traditional Romanian cuisine, explaining the origins of each dish with plenty of historical context. Her storytelling made history come alive, and her passion for her country’s culture was truly inspiring. We learned so much and tasted our way through Romania’s heritage at the same time. 100% recommended!
A lovely way to explore Bucharest and it's local food. This tour was a good mix of history and local snacks. Highly recommend doing it on your first morning in Bucharest, as the city feels like it's coming alive once you understand its history and people. As well, perhaps consider coming to the tour hungry, as there are plenty of delicious pastries to try along the way.
I absolutely loved the tour. Andrei was a very good storyteller and all of the information was well structured. As well, the food stops were surprising, as dome of them are not places I would've thought to stop by myself. I highly recommend this tour, and I advise coming to the tour hungry.
We had such a great time on this food tour with Andreea. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made everything feel relaxed and fun. We learned a lot about Bucharest’s history and culture while trying all kinds of delicious local food. Highly recommend!
