Ciao!
The tour was overall pleasant and the guide spoke very good English, which made it easy to follow. He was engaging and friendly, but I found the explanations a bit random at times and not very focused on the historical side, which is what I was most interested in when visiting the capital. For me, the stops and commentary were not particularly interesting, but I think it could still be enjoyable for someone looking for a lighter, more casual experience of the city.
I did the tour of the Imperial Citadel in Hue. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I felt it lacked context. I took the tour on September 2nd, Vietnam’s National Day (Reunification/Independence Day), so it wasn’t easy given the large crowds at the Citadel. Some areas of the complex were skipped, and at times it felt a bit unstructured. The information provided focused on the Citadel itself but didn’t give much historical context. That said, the guide is clearly knowledgeable, and I would encourage continuing to develop the tour by including more background about the monarchy, how it arose and ended, and a broader overview of Vietnam’s history. Hue has significance in both historical and more recent times, and adding this perspective would make the tour more engaging and informative.
I had an amazing tour with Khieu Q! She’s incredibly knowledgeable, but what really shines is her experience and natural talent in guiding tours. Her English is flawless, and she makes the whole experience fun and engaging. She interacts wonderfully with everyone, is extremely professional, and full of positive energy. I highly recommend this tour!
I had an absolutely fantastic tour with Emma! She’s incredibly knowledgeable, not just about Can Tho but about all of Vietnam. I asked all sorts of questions, and she had an answer for every single one. I was on a private tour, which made it even more special. Emma is super friendly, energetic, and full of positive vibes — she really makes the experience unforgettable. I can’t recommend this tour enough!
The walking tour with Nana was absolutely spectacular. It ended up being just me, so I practically had a private walking tour. As a history lover, I truly appreciated how Nana flawlessly described the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, filling in many gaps I had about the country’s past. The stop at the bunker was fantastic, as was the visit to the oldest café in town, where for the first time I tried something really unusual for me: coffee with lemon in the same glass. Walking through the narrow alleys of District 3 was amazing — such unique glimpses of everyday life, and honestly much more original and authentic than what I later experienced wandering around the historic center on my own. I highly recommend this tour, not only for Nana’s professionalism and excellent preparation, but also for her great English and her warm, positive personality. Probably the best walking tour I’ve ever taken!
