Nice little tour with an enthusiastic guide in which we explored a small part of the historic center of Taipei and learned about some of the religious rituals of one of its most iconic Buddhist temples.
An excellent intro into Taipei history!!
Our guide, Tâilé, was absolutely outstanding — warm, engaging, and impressively knowledgeable about her city and its rich history. Her English was flawless, and her storytelling brought Taipei’s past vividly to life. Throughout the tour, we made many fascinating stops where we learned not only about the historic gates of the old city but also about Taiwan’s unique journey toward independence and its wonderfully open, liberal spirit. I came away with a far deeper appreciation for how this vibrant island became what it is today. What stood out most was Tâilé’s openness — she encouraged questions, welcomed conversation, and made the entire group feel both informed and connected. We joined the tour with friends and left having made new ones, thanks in no small part to her warmth and enthusiasm. We even had a chance to get a “foot massage” on a stone path which came just a the right moment for me. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough — and if you have the chance, be sure to request Tâilé as your guide. She turns history into something you feel, not just hear.
