Great tour, very informative, thank you Ferhat!
We should have done this tour as soon as we landed in Istanbul because it provides you a great overview of what to eat in Istanbul and where.
Muy buena información, comida excelente!
I had a great time touring around with Ferhat. It really helped familiarise myself with local noms and acted as a perfect jumping off point on the subsequent days!
Ferhad does a great job explaining the food culture, what to eat and when, and takes you to the top spots for the various categories. All food you must purchase if you want to try which is different from past tours I have taken where you get a small sample. I had hoped to see more interesting / historical sites as part of the tour, but that was not advertised in description and not something we had an opportunity to do. We really enjoyed the tour.
Had a really great tour with Ferhat today. Really knowledgable and informative and he took us to some fantastic food places on the Asian side of the city, many of which I would never have tried myself. Highly recommended!
Loved it. Even the intestines!
A really good walking tour if you want a taste of everything in the city! We tried so much different food and Ferhat was great. Although it was a very small tour it meant we could stop and eat wherever we wanted, and skipped some places we wanted to try later.
Ferhat was an excellent guide for Kadikoy, I really enjoyed the food tour.
What a lovely guy, we learnt s much about the market, visited numerous stalls and Ferhat gave us an indepth description and history of many foods.
This food tour through Kadıköy was an absolute highlight of my time in Istanbul, and honestly one of the best ways to experience a food-obsessed culture like Turkey's. Our guide Ferhat was excellent — knowledgeable, easygoing, and clearly passionate about the neighborhood and its food scene. What made this tour special was getting to try things I never would have sought out on my own. Two standouts: şalgam, a tangy fermented turnip/pickle juice that's a real acquired-taste local staple, and kokoreç, a grilled lamb intestine dish that sounds intimidating on paper but turned out to be genuinely delicious. Trying both with a knowledgeable local guide who could explain what they were and why they matter culturally made the experience way more enjoyable than just stumbling on them alone. Street food tours are such a great way to get beneath the surface of a place, and doing this on the Asian side specifically gave me a totally different feel from the more touristy European side — more local, more lived-in, less performative. If you're spending any real time in Istanbul, I'd strongly encourage making the trip over to Kadıköy for a food tour like this one. It genuinely enriched my whole experience of the city and gave me a much fuller picture of Istanbul's food culture beyond the usual kebab-and-baklava tourist track.
I found the tour really interesting and it answered many of the questions I'd had about life and culture in Istanbul/Turkey (not covered by a more 'traditional' history walking tour). We went back to 3 of the places recommended and really enjoyed the food!
Ferhat was great - very informative and it was easy to understand his English as he speaks slowly. The food he recommended was all tasty, unique and interesting. This is a must do food tour on the Asian side.
Excellent tour, Ferhet was super knowledgeable showed us lots of great food places at different price points. We tried lots of great food along the way and have lots of recommendations here and all over the city for the rest of our trip! Would definitely recommend!!
I really highly recommend Ferhat as your guide to the wonderful foodie world of Kadıköy! Thanks to his tour, I felt like I got a really good grasp of the iconic dishes and food spots in the area. Ferhat didn’t just introduce us to the food, he also shared the history and stories behind the various dishes and establishments, which made the experience much more interesting and memorable. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about both food and Kadıköy, and he kindly took the time to answer all of our questions, whether they were about Turkish cuisine, the history of the neighbourhood, or simply where to find the best things to eat. You can really tell that he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion comes through throughout the entire tour. The food itself was fantastic, and having someone like Ferhat guide us meant we got to experience Kadıköy in a much deeper way than we would have on our own. I also appreciated how relaxed and friendly he was, which made the whole tour feel more like exploring the neighbourhood with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a typical tourist tour. If you're a foodie visiting Istanbul and want to discover the flavours, stories and hidden gems of Kadıköy, I definitely recommend booking a tour with Ferhat.
I was the only one on the tour but Ferhat still made the effort to do the tour with me. We talked about street food and trendy places in kadıköy and had lots of opportunities to try different dishes. i really like the Islak burger, simple and satisfying. i could definitely see myself eating it as a hangover cure haha. I also got some good recommendations for restaurants as well. I’m excited to try Tartar Salim when I get a chance! Overall great tour and such a cool place to do it!
I learnt alot
Super interesante el tour de Ferhat! Nos dio mucha información util y super entretenido.
Ferhat's tour is really nice. We recommend it especially if your are lost about food, types of restaurant, drinks in Turkey etc. Now we know better how to deal with turkish food and vegeterian options. Thanks Ferhat
Ferhat is a great guide! Really knows the area well and gives advice the proper advice. The tour was entertaining and we learned a lot of interesting facts about Turkish food and history. Highly recommended! ☺️
Amazing tour! We opted to try the food ferhat taught us about at most of the stops so we used the tour as our dinner. We learned so much about Turkish food history and culture. Delicious and so interesting! One of my favorite walking tours i’ve been on
Ferhat was great with communication prior. His English was excellent and he left us with no questions. There was no pressure to purchase, he took account of our wishes all along the tour and even informed us about the best toilets to visit. I really enjoyed this tour. We went at lunch time and this made it less crowded then it would be later on the Sunday evening.
