Free Historical Centre Tour of Bogota

Walk through the cobbled streets of La Candelaria, the place was nearly five centuries ago, in 1538, Capitan Gonzalo Giménez de Quesada arrived, the Spanish conqueror and explorer who was searching for "El Dorado" when he founded Santa Fé de Bogotá. Enjoy the colonial architecture which still remains intact, and understand its unique urban development, unlike any other in Latin America, but decisive in establishing the new city as the most important in the region and the capital of the Viceroyalty of New Granada.

On our Free Historical Center Tour of Bogotá you will discover a stoic and fascinating city which has survived as many as nine national wars throughout the 19th century, two provincial wars, four great fires, and despite it all it still managed to reinvent itself in the second half of the last century as one of the cultural capitals of America. You will walk through a unique old town in which you can find up to five different universities, where students talk about poetry as they drink chicha at the Chorro de Quevedo (the birthplace of the city) and where storytellers tell tales in which reality and magic are so intertwined, it's almost impossible to tell them apart.
