Tour description

During this incredible experience , get to know the colorful towns of Antigua Guatemala, and visit the Chocolate and Wine workshop where you will be given an explanation of how they work in the colorful city of San Juan del Obispo. As well as a tasting of different artisanal wines and cocoa. In both places it is necessary to leave a tip to help the artisans of these picturesque places, and the growth of the community, to encourage them to move forward and contribute to their economy. In both places there is a store to buy wine and cocoa, artisanal is not mandatory but it is suggested to give tips to the small artisans! Thanks 🙂

Then we will visit the colorful city of San Pedro. Las Huertas, known for its ultra-baroque church from the 17th and 18th centuries and its water tank, which is the largest in Antigua Guatemala. You will also visit a jade workshop where an expert will give you all the information about jade, which is very important for the Mayan civilization. During the tour we will travel by "Chicken Bus" so we will have to take public transportation from the bus station to get to these towns. It is really worth taking this tour because you will live a unique and unforgettable experience.

Places to visit during our village tour:
1) San Juan del Obispo
, its church, its chapels, the Francisco Marroquín Palace, Wine and Chocolate workshop.

2) San Pedro las huertas , its church, its huge water tank and a wonderful jade tour where an expert explains the entire jade production process.

IT IS A TOUR that is really worth it ! It is truly a unique experience ; beautiful that you will never forget! And you're going to value the only thing I need from you is time and the will to do it!

- Important! Put your correct phone number so that you can easily recognize me, for example your area code (your country) + your phone number, and that's it I can send you a WhatsApp,

- Mask is not mandatory, it is optional. It is necessary that you confirm your participation in the tour in advance. This is a tour on the outskirts of Antigua.

THIS IS A VISIT OF WHAT THE ARTISAN PRODUCTION OF COCOA WINE AND JADE IS AND AT THE SAME TIME THE ARTISANS OFFER YOU THEIR PRODUCTS AND IT IS UP TO YOU TO BUY THEM, IT IS NOT MANDATORY.

THIS IS NOT A "SHOPPING TOUR" AS MANY SAY IF I TAKE YOU TO THOSE PLACES IT IS TO LEARN THE WORK OF THE ARTISANS, IT IS NOT TO BUY OR BENEFIT ANYONE...

Meeting point: ✅ in front of the Macdonals Antigua Guatemala restaurant I wear a green jade necklace on my neck and a cap and my guide license, certificate I will be outside, I only ask that you confirm your participation in advance. Thank you so much........

We've not experienced a walking tour like this before where you use the local transport to see surrounding villages, it was a great experience.

Pablo knows SO MUCH about the city and the area - he’s an expert and clearly very passionate about teaching you as much as he can. My only recommendation for future walkers is to know that there are several (about 4?) separate rides on the chicken buses, so you need Q12 (in coins or small bills) rather than just Q3.

Pablo is very knowledgeable and with this tour, being able to explore neighboring towns outside of Antigua was such a pleasure! While Antigua is great I think it is also worthwhile to learn about other small businesses and their crafts. I highly recommend this tour!

Pablo was very friendly and could tell me a lot about the places we passed, the places we visited and the history of Antigua and Guatemala. After taking the ‘chicken bus’ (or camionneta) we first visited the cacoa/rum producer with an explanation of the Mayan way of producing cacao. Both the cacao, rum and cake I got were delicious!! After that we went to a workshop that got Jade out of stone which was very cool to see. If you are planning to buy crystals somewhere in Guatemala, this would be a good place to do so. It was great to have Pablo as a guide and the atmosphere was good, I liked seeing how Pablo and the cacao place owners were friends. That made for a fun and light vibe :)
