Tour description

  • Wat Phra Singh Temple: We will start at 8:00am at the door of the Wat Phra Singh Temple, learning about the history and architecture of the most important and well-known temple in Chiang Mai. This impressive enclosure is located in the pure center of the ancient city, with very beautiful gardens and visited by hundreds of people a day. A great place to learn about Buddhism, learn about architecture and tradition and the life of the monks.
  • Wat Chedi Luang Temple: After a walk through the streets of the ancient city of Chiang Mai we will discover another of the jewels of Chiang Mai. Also known as a fortress temple, the Wat Chedi Luang compound is an ancient temple used as a fortress to protect property and the monarchy from Burmese invasions. Inside the enclosure we will see the enormous chedi where the Emerald Buddha was formerly kept.
  • Wat Phantao Temple: Next we will discover another enclosure built in the 14th century, the Wat Phantao temple is a Buddhist temple that features a fascinating façade adorned with intricate teak wood carvings and captures the attention of visitors from afar. This temple is a cultural and spiritual wonder that captivates those privileged to see it, offering a window into Thailand's rich religious and architectural tradition. A very photogenic point and where we will learn more about the architecture and tradition of the country.
  • Explanation and End of the tour: The free tour ends at Wat Phantao temple around 10:30-11:00am.
