Tour description

The city of Guanare (Venezuela-Portuguesa) is rich in history expressed in its old town which is preserved in excellent condition from its foundation to the present day, it is full of anecdotes, culture and legends, it is for this reason that the eco-tour historical, allows to recognize the value of its natural environment and that built by man. Places to visit: -Caja de Agua: designed by Agustín Codazzi (1779) Italian surveyor, who made the first mapping of much of South America, such as the first aqueduct in the thriving city of Piedemonte Andean-llanero. It was completed and put into operation 100 years after its design and lasted 40 years in use. -Old convent of San Francisco, today converted into the University of Los Llanos (UNELLEZ), being a very well preserved colonial infrastructure with nearly 300 years of history, where the first lyceum of the Republic of Venezuela was founded in 1825 with the name "San Luis de Gonzaga Federal School for Boys", its first rector was the priest José´Vicente de Unda (signatory of the Act of Independence of Venezuela of 1811). It was decreed as Historical Heritage of the Nation in 1962. -Museum of the City of Guanare "Inés Mercedes Gómez Alvarez". Second place of four Historical Patrimonies of the nation that exist in Guanare. -Casacoima, an old "high" house, where the "Tobacconist" belonging to the Guipuzcoana Company, belonging to the Welser family, who had the royal identity card for the exploitation of the vast territory, operated in the colonial period. It was the first "Tax Collection House" in Venezuela in a place not associated with seaports. Guanare did have a port, but it was a river type. -Plaza Bolívar and Guanare Cathedral.
