GREEK TOUR The Old Medieval Bilbao and its history

Duration: 2h and 15min
Languages: Greek
Guru: Susanne
Registered on March 14, 2019

Hello everyone! I'm Susanne from Athens, and I came to Bilbao in 2018 to visit the GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM and was captured by the hidden beauty of this fantastic Basque city. My love for the whole Basque Country is such that I became an Official Tour Guide to be able to offer tours to anyone would be interested to discover what I have discovered and enjoy Bilbao in its best. I 've joined the GuruWalk community since the summer of 2020 and so far, I had the chance to meet up hundreds of fascinating people, and that's the best thing about this job. Here, in Bilbao, we believe that "The Bilbainos born wherever they want" meaning that one does not has to get born here to be Basque and that's my case! Join my tour to discover the best parts of Bilbao and get to know a lot of stories about this very special nation, the Basques!

Tour description

Bilbao's Old city was born in 1300, in a small valley of just 3 medieval streets. Since then and for the next six centuries, the whole city gathers and develops maritime activity arounder the river, and now is called The Seven Streets. It's a small, dark, medieval town but also the biggest port in Northern Spain. Until the middle of the 19th century, here is where the history of Bilbao is created.
Together we'll visit:

- The Arriaga Theatre
- The Plaza Nueva
- The Unamuno Square
- The Seven Streets
- The Cathedral and its square
- The Torre Building
- The spot of Begona and the Txiciteros Box
- The street and the fountain of Perro
- The Biddebarieta Library
- And we'll finish our tour inside the Rivera Market.

All my groups of guests are strictly limited to 9-10 person for a more personal and private tour .
For that reason, please be punctual at the time and the place of our meeting, because of the limited bookings of every tour.

Definitely my favourite guru walk to this day. Susana is an incredibly passionate person with tons of love for the city of Bilbao. She is very knowledgeable not only about the city itself but of Spain in general. We had very insightful conversations and a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to explore the wonderful city of Bilbao through the lens of an almost local. ☺️
