“Street Paintings” Graffiti and Urban Art in Madrid

Welcome, travelers! My name is Diana, and I'm a Madrid native who loves painting in all its forms. That's why I want to introduce my "Paintings on the Street" tour , where we 'll see the best graffiti murals , full of history and color.
Learn about the beginnings of graffiti with Jack the Ripper, whose walls were stained with the blood of his victims—the first Polish graffiti artist!

I have chosen a series of works that have their origins in contemporary art : pop art with inspirations from Warhol or Lichtenstein (the comic), Matisse and Fauvism, TVboy (always hidden) and his irony towards current politicians, in a funny and sarcastic way.

Suso 33 and his beginnings in Madrid, Gerada and his portraits of women , and many other works, which also delve into contemporary feminism.
We will also see the wonderful mural works in the Tabacalera space , which will speak for themselves.

Where do we start? The Route

🔸 1 Glorieta de Embajadores. Tobacco factory or old tobacco factory (exterior murals). Origins of graffiti and explanation of the murals.

🔸 2 The beautiful sundial in an old Madrid corrala

🔸 3 Monkey by Okuda and Bordalo “yes, the monkey gentrifies”

🔸 4 large-scale murals in central Madrid. Two main themes: love and still life.

🔸 5 Woman with a Sword and a Heart from “The King of Ruins”

🔸 6 Suso 33 and the beginnings of iconographic graffiti in the 80s.
