Ho Chi Minh City Walking Tour: Typical Highlights
Tour description
"Xin Chao" and welcome to Ho Chi Minh City
Formerly (and still commonly) known as Saigon, it is the largest city in Vietnam and is well-known for its modern and dynamic vibe. Besides Cu Chi Tunnels, which most newcomers will pick as a part of their schedule, a walking tour of the city center will give you an excellent introduction to the city's history, including, but not limited to, the history of the Vietnam war.
In this tour, we will meet up at the back of Ben Thanh Market, which is an easier meeting place as the front of the market is currently occupied by the construction work of the new metro system. From the market we will walk to the War Remnants Museum to learn about the Civil War that occurred in Vietnam from 1954 to 1975.
Next, we will enter the Reunification Palace (the former Presidential Palace) which was the working and living place of the president before the war ended in 1975.
After that, we will visit the Saigon Central Post-Office which lies next to the Notre Dame Cathedral, two French architectural highlights of the city.
From here, you will have your own free time to walk to the Opera House, the City's Square and the front of the City Hall or explore the Ben Thanh market on your own.
The approximate length for this tour is 3 hours.
Important information for the traveler:
- Entrance fee for The War Remnant Museum and the Reunification Palace is 1,4 euros (40,000 vnd) for each, which is not included in the guide's fee.
