In 1859, Sultan Abdulmejid I published a decree giving Christians religious freedom. The monks invited Italian architect Matteo Lorenzoni to design a project for the church. Local workers built the walls using oak trunks. Construction was finished in 1875. By 1896 the Church and Monastery had arisen in Mostar.

On the Radobolja River, near to where it joins the Neretva, close to the Old Bridge, stands the Crooked Bridge, a miniature version of The Old Bridge -Stari Most. Built in 1558, eight years prior to the more famous Old Bridge, it is believed to have been built as a trial attempt for the following, more daring, construction.

The Old Bridge in Mostar is an iconic architectural masterpiece located in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It spans across the Neretva River, connecting the two parts of the city. Built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire, the bridge features a stunning blend of Islamic and Western architectural styles.

It is the car-free area of Mostar where the Ottoman shops are located. It's also the oldest part of town.
