Welcome to Mostar!
Starting from the Franciscan Monastery, a walking tour through Mostar will allow you to fully experience the unique fairytale atmosphere to majestic mosques, Ottoman houses and Austro-Hungarian, an authentic Bazaar, countless viewpoints, friendly people, and great local food.

During the tour, we will visit:

  • The Franciscan monastery
  • Old city area
  • Old Bridge
  • Koski-Mehmed Pasha's Mosque

    I will be next to the Franciscan Church Bell Tower, which is located beside the Church of St. Peter and Paul, from where we will start the tour.

    Franciscan Church and Monastery of St. Peter and St. Paul

    In 1859, Sultan Abdulmejid I published a decree giving Christians religious freedom. The monks invited Italian architect Matteo Lorenzoni to design a project for the church. Local workers built the walls using oak trunks. Construction was finished in 1875. By 1896 the Church and Monastery had arisen in Mostar.

    Kriva ćuprija

    On the Radobolja River, near to where it joins the Neretva, close to the Old Bridge, stands the Crooked Bridge, a miniature version of The Old Bridge -Stari Most. Built in 1558, eight years prior to the more famous Old Bridge, it is believed to have been built as a trial attempt for the following, more daring, construction.

    Old Bridge

    The Old Bridge in Mostar is an iconic architectural masterpiece located in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It spans across the Neretva River, connecting the two parts of the city. Built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire, the bridge features a stunning blend of Islamic and Western architectural styles.

    Bazar Kujundžiluk

    It is the car-free area of Mostar where the Ottoman shops are located. In this part of town you can find many artisans selling their traditional handicrafts from little shops by the side of the street: there are several interesting copper items and beautiful carpets, as well as clothes, scarves, jewelry, pipes and nargilehs. It's also the oldest part of town.
