DETAILED DESCRIPTION
We will begin our tour in Parque Kennedy, which is one of the main tourist places in Miraflores named in honor of the former North American president. People come here to relax and also to walk, as the area offers a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. In the park, you have the opportunity to try Peruvian food such as the famous Butifarra, Chicha Morada, Arroz con Leche, Picarones and more. A curious fact is that the park is also known as "The cat park", since this was the home of approximately 100 cats, today you will see some of them sleeping around the park and others surrounded by people.
In the park, we can find the Virgen Milagrosa Parish, also known as the Miraflores mother church, built in 1919 by the Polish architect Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski after his arrival in the second decade of the 20th century. Inside the church, there are stained glass decorations inspired by episodes in the life of Jesus Christ, as well as the image of the miraculous virgin.
After the park, we will pass by the house of Ricardo Palma, one of the most important writers in Peru. We will know its history and its literary works.
We will walk through the Indian Market, the largest handicraft market in Lima. This market has a number of small shops offering a number of "traditional" Peruvian handicrafts and souvenirs, including alpaca scarves, sweaters and hats, colorful knitting, embroidered cushions, pottery, jewelry and musical instruments. In this market, affordable prices are handled and it offers variety and quality, which makes it a good place to buy souvenirs from your trip. You can negotiate prices, so shop around first to get the best deal, then ask for a discount.
We will go to the Chocolate Museum where we will receive information about Peruvian cocoa and the process it undergoes until it becomes chocolate. You will be able to try chocolates, jams, Peruvian pisco and cocoa tea. Among the magnificent products that the ChocoMuseo offers, we can find coffee, desserts, as well as cocoa derivatives, such as body lotions, lipsticks, candles, cocoa beans, and notebooks.
After this sweet tour, we will go to the Parque del Amor, located on the Malecón Cisneros. This park was inaugurated on February 14, 1993. In the central part, you can see a beautiful sculpture dedicated to love, "El beso", whose author is the great Peruvian artist Victor Delfin. The park is bordered by a wavy wall, where you can read romantic phrases from the best-known Peruvian poets, phrases like: "You are over the infinite sea" by Augusto Tamayo Vargas.
Finishing with this interesting tour, we will go to the Larcomar shopping center that was inaugurated in 1998 by Fernando Andrade, former mayor of Miraflores. This shopping center has more than 150 stores, including restaurants with traditional Peruvian and international food, and if you want to have fun, it has bars, clubs, and others. It is the most famous shopping center in Miraflores.
