The tour is available in German or English.
Rainer Maria Rilke already wrote a book about Bad Ragaz. The title describes our beautiful region:
"Being here is amazing!"
On my tour we meet at Rathausplatz and I give you general information about Bad Ragaz, the Sarganserland and Switzerland in general.
Then we start the tour, go to the Catholic church , to the Zurich War Memorial , to the small fire department museum (former fire station) and to the place where ice from Lake Giessen used to be stored in winter .
You will then see the first generation of thermal water pipes from the source in the Tamina Gorge to Bad Ragaz .
Afterwards you will see the former station of the funicular railway from Bad Ragaz to Wartenstein.
Then the main topic begins, the spa and health history . You will find out how spa tourism has developed in Bad Ragaz.
The tour ends at the monument to Bruno P. Zehnder , the world-famous penguin photographer who I knew personally before his death in Antarctica.
Of course, you will also receive lots of tips about the beautiful holiday region of Heidiland.
I will be in front of the old town hall with a sign saying Guru Walk.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
