Art Tour: History and Local Culture through Art
Tour description
Discover the history and culture of Valparaíso through its art, streets, and people. In this tour, we will explore the social and political context that gave rise to various artistic expressions such as architecture, music, painting, and urban art. We begin at the Civic Plaza of Valparaíso, in front of the old Intendancy, and then take the traditional Reina Victoria Elevator to Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, where art is part of the everyday landscape.
In these hills, we will learn about the port's history through its multiple artistic manifestations:
Murals and urban art that transform walls into visual narratives.
Graffiti with social and political identity.
Art galleries featuring local art exponents.
Spaces and moments to discuss port music, heritage architecture, and other artistic expressions that are part of Valparaíso's identity.
We walk through streets, viewpoints, and passages that reveal the labyrinthine character of the city. We finish at the Yugoslav Walk, next to the Baburizza Palace, now the Museum of Fine Arts, from where we observe the port and the Port District to conclude the experience with a panoramic view of the living memory of Valparaíso. I look forward to seeing you!
