Free tour Lisbon, not the usual tour
My name is Antonella, from Taranto, Italy. I am 28 years old and I have been living in Lisbon for 3 years. I have been studying languages all my life, graduated from the Oriental University of Naples and still haven't stopped studying. Already in Naples I worked for Napoli Sotterranea, an archaeological site, where I discovered my love for this job. Tour guiding is a good way to put my communication skills to use, and I have been going out on the streets leading tourists around Lisbon for 3 years now, I think I have found my IKIGAI with this job. My goal is to present Lisbon to you without cheating or tricks, and make you fall in love with it, just as I fell in love with it.
Tour description
“The traveler goes out into the street, he is a lost traveller.
Where will it go? What places will he visit? What other places will he leave out, either by his deliberation or by his inability to see everything and talk about everything?
And what does it mean to see everything? (J.Saramago)
I recommend my tour as the first thing to do right after leaving your luggage at the hotel, and if you're traveling alone it's the experience that will allow you to meet new friends.
You will see the neighborhoods of Baixa Pombalina and Chiado, starting from Praça do Rossio , passing through Praça da Figueira to talk about the ' bifana ', the prego , and the Bacalhau , together with which a good glass of green wine is never missing .
I will show you the Church of Sao Domingos and its suggestive history linked to the Portuguese Inquisition , the Casa do Alentejo and its secrets. Then we will arrive at Praça dos Restauradores where I will tell you when the greatest nightmare of the Portuguese came true and how they were victorious.
In the Plaza dos Restauradores we will find the symbol of the Lisbon neighborhood, a ship with two crows Do you know the legend behind this symbol?
From the Rossio station we go up the Chiado hill, where in Largo do Carmo I will tell you one of my favorite and least known stories, the Carnation Revolution; Do you know when democracy was established in Portugal?
We will see up close the roofless monastery that had already intrigued us from Rossio Square, and we will go up to the Elevador de Santa Justa where we will be able to contemplate the Baixa from above and, speaking of the apocalypse of 1755 , imagine the frenzy and fear of those moments, to then return to appreciate the beauty of a city that is reborn from its own ashes over the course of 80 years.
We will go up to the Bairro Alto , we will talk about Fado , its history and its importance for the Portuguese. In this musical genre all the soul, pain and joy of this people with big hardworking hands are concentrated.
When you sing Fado you can't breathe!!!
From the Bairro, we finally arrive at Largo do Chiado , the literary corner of Lisbon, where I will tell you about Camoes , Pessoa , Chiado himself and today's Lisbon satire; and then show you the oldest bookshop in the world, the Livraria Bertrand .
Descending towards Armazens do Chiado we head towards Rua Augusta , where we pass under the Arch of Rua Augusta to reach Praça do Comércio , the end of our tour.
Mine is not only a tour guide but add value to your holiday and become a beautiful memory in your life.
