Hi, I am Marius! I live in the city of Berat, Albania. I have been living mostly in the city and I am always searching for new information about the city and its people in the past and today. I have come to interpret many interesting facts about the city and how those compare with other cities in the region. I would love to share with you these insights, how historical conditions affected human lives and the city itself, all the while witnessing the historical beautiful monuments existing today woven in a unique landascape.
Dear visitors! I am happy to guide you through the beautiful city of Berat. During the tour, we will visit cultural monuments, especially religious buildings and historic neighborhoods, all in a stunning landscape.
I will offer an interpretation of the historical circumstances that have shaped the buildings we will explore.
This tour is exciting and enlightening, providing many explanations about historical phenomena reflected in various cities in the Balkans.
We will begin our visit in the city center, in front of the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Demetrius. We will walk from the modern part of Berat towards the historic center, passing through the Mangalem neighborhood. Then, we will visit the Medieval Center and the pacha's palaces.

The Medieval Center of Berat was the old center of Berat. It has islamic monuments set in a medieval environment.
Mangalem Quarter is otherwise known as 1000 windows. It is the emblematic quarter of the city. In Mangalem historic houses with numerous windows line the slope of the hill.
The Republica Bulevard is the main promenade of the city of Berat. It goes past the modern bars and cafes near the center of the city. The Bulevard leads towards the historic center.
The Helveti Tekke is an historic religious monument used by the Helveti order of the Sufi sect. It has an outstanding architecture and many works of art painted inside.
The panoramic point in the castle of Berat offers the best view of the city of Berat. It dominates the city on three sides and it is the place of many historical events.
