Free Tour The Bible at the British Museum

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English

Description

Fun, Intelligent, Full of knowledge, Straight to the point with a surprise at every corner.

The British Museum opened in 1759 and was the first public museum in the world. Home to eight million objects, undoubtedly is one of the greatest treasures of the world by itself.

WHAT MANY PEOPLE DON'T KNOW, IS THE RELATION IT HAS WITH THE BIBLE.

From the many items that we'll see to help us understand the most important book in humanity, some exhibits will point to the accuracy of biblical records whilst others will simply throw light on the Bible events and customs.

The best route, so we don't get tired!

Following the route I designed, we will see the main objects related to the bible in a shorter time. So you can enjoy your visit with calm and tranquility.

JUST SOME STUFF WE'LL SEE:

  1. The burned walls of Nineveth (Nahum 3:15)
  2. The huge winged human-headed bulls from the palace of Sargon, King of Assyria. Remembering where Sennacherib was assassinated by his sons (2 Kings 19:37)
  3. The Black Obelisk, describing Assyrian King Shalmaneser III's victory over Ben-Hadad and Hazael (2 Kings 8:7-15)
  4. The Siege of Lachish warned by prophet Micah (1:13)
  5. Statues of many of the Pharaohs of Egypt mentioned in the bible.
  6. The Monument cast of king Xerxes referred to in the book of Esther 5:1-2
  7. The world's oldest surviving work of literature "Epic of Gilgamesh", which depicts a great flood
  8. The magnificent Cyrus Cylinder, one of the most important pieces in the museum (Ezra 6:3-5)
  9. King Nebuchadnezzar Stone. One of the many tablets containing the Kings constructions (like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon)
  10. The bronze bust of Caesar Augustus, the first emperor of Rome who was in charge at the time of the birth of Jesus.
  11. Coin Collection of Judaea, containing one of Herod the Great, the king at the time of the birth of Jesus. Other of king Herod Agrippa.
  12. Figure of gods worshipped at Caesarea Philippi where Jesus was acknowledged by his disciples as Christ (Matthew 16:13)
