Free walking tour: Secrets and legends of medieval Barcelona
I am a Historian from the University of Barcelona and previously I have worked for 20 years in the entertainment sector in the tourism sector in different hotels on the Spanish coast. I have recently completed a Barcelona guide course at the Catalunya Higher School of Tourism which is located in the old town of Barcelona. I am passionate about history and I am passionate about showing it in an entertaining and fun way.
Tour description
Hi, I'm Oriol your Guru and in this journey I'm about to take, explain one of the most interesting periods of history where the temples, squares and winding streets of the historic center of Barcelona keep the most sinister secrets and the most incredible legends and magical, where the divine merges with the earth.
Why the path?
One of the reasons for taking this route is to discover that hidden Barcelona where the stones that have stood the test of time carry a secret they want to tell you. It just takes a lot of desire and someone to decipher it. Hidden symbols and doors that until now have been invisible to you, you will be able to discover and see them in this magical journey. Are you ready to travel through time?
THE STOPS WE WILL VISIT ARE:
- house of medieval traditionss
- Construction of the cathedral and the house of the pia almoina.
- Puerta De San Ivo and the secrets of the cathedral's gargoyles.
- King's Square.
- Saint Lucia.
- Legend of Santa Eulalia at the Baixada de Santa Eulalia
- Santa Maria del Pi.
- Gothic facade of the town hall of Barcelona (St. Severus also explains)
- Return to Cathedral Square (Goodbye)
Practical information:
The route will start in front of the Santa Katerina market and end in the cathedral square, so it will be a circular circuit as if they were the hands of a clock.
The course will take place entirely abroad.
Comfortable shoes are recommended.
Duration of the route approximately just over 2 hours.
The guided tour will have visual support material to appreciate the changes of the monuments over time.
Bibliographic material
Through this process, digital articles of specialized magazines on the history of Catalonia have been consulted, such as the Sapiens magazine, ABC and La Vanguardia, which has a degree in historical archives, and historiographical essays by prestigious historians of Barcelona and Catalonia such as Josep Maria Salrach, Rosa LLuc o Valentí gual with her book Mantant Lo rei. The popular story of the writer Joan Amades was also collected.
