Comuna 13: Cable Car 🚡 + Graffiti Tour + Non-touristy Sites 🧱
Tour description
This tour is designed to explore as much as possible during these hours, not just in the tourist area, but rather to have an authentic experience and learn about everyday life while exploring more places in this charming commune. I tell stories from a perspective of freshness, knowledge, reality, experience, and experiences, since this is the area of the city where I was born and currently live. The idea is that from the first moment we all feel at home and enjoy it as if we were friends . Trust and good vibes are the starting point for many admirable things.
Guided tour of Comuna 13 in Medellín, where I want to highlight the social transformation this place has undergone, show how art and culture were fundamental factors in this process, and gain insight into a new way of life and perspective.
The meeting point and start of the tour is: the San Javier station of the Medellín metro in the metrocable area (cable car). Be careful not to leave the station because we will be using the means of transport. It is also worth noting that this station has two exits, the main one on the first floor and the metrocable station on the second.
Once we have gathered at the meeting point , we will take a ride on the Comuna 13 cable car. This is a public transport system and will give us a broader view of the area, as these neighborhoods are quite far from the tourist area . This tour lasts approximately 25 minutes and after that, we will be in the most important and central neighborhood of the commune (San Javier neighborhood). There, I will show and comment on some things, and then we will take a medium-sized bus that will take us to the tourist and artistic area.
Already in the middle of the Graffiti Tour , we'll visit the Independence neighborhoods, the escalators, the largest open-air urban art gallery in the city, and the viaduct that connects different neighborhoods.
If you like, you can try homemade ice cream, well-known by locals and foreigners, as well as gastronomy from various cultures in the country. You will also enjoy dance, trova and freestyle shows (all shows are free, artists receive voluntary contributions). Also, being in a high area of the city , the landscape that can be seen is fascinating and makes for great photographs .
This is a fairly safe place, its people are friendly and helpful, which is why after being in the tourist area the route continues in a neighboring but totally everyday neighborhood where you will appreciate the "normal" life of Commune 13. To end this guided tour in the Peace Park, there you take transportation either to the subway station or to a specific point.
During the tour, we'll have time to listen to stories, watch shows, ask and answer questions, and what I always want is for this place to show you a new way of seeing life and things.
