Originally a translator by trade, my passion for history and culture made me decide to widen my skills and become a tour guide. I am passionate about Asturias, about its history, people and traditions and I now want to show people from around the world my little piece of the “natural paradise” that is Asturias.
In this visit of Braga, you will be able to discover this beautiful city through the work of one of the most important architects of the XVIII century in Braga, André Ribeiro Soares da Silva. Discover the history behind this self-taught architect and the buildings he created, some of the most important rococo and late baroque buildings of the Iberian Peninsula. At the same time, you will discover things about the history of the city, the role that Brazil and the colonies had on its development, as well as the importance that the church had in this city dominated by the archbishops that turned it into the “second court” of Portugal.
In this tour we will visit various points and buildings of interest, which are related to André Soares or that allow us to gain a better insight into the historical and social context of the time. It is a visit centred around this less-well-known architect and his style, the rococo/late baroque, that also allows us to get to know this beautiful baroque, religious and ancient city.
You will find me by the fountain (fonte do pelicano) carrying a black backpack.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
