Welcome to the Liberdade neighborhood

How do you imagine the most famous Japanese neighborhood in São Paulo? You probably think it has always been this way, but I have a surprise for you: the neighborhood is much more than the Japanese community! Come and discover a bit more of its history!

Places of interest:

  •  Pateo do Collegio: The "Pateo do Collegio" is a historical and religious complex located in the center of São Paulo, belonging to the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit order. This place was fundamental in the city's history, which over time transformed into one of the world's major capitals.
  • Praça João Mendes: Located in the historical center of São Paulo, near the Sé, it marks the presence of the black community in the city.
  • Praça da Liberdade: One of São Paulo's main attractions, with a rich history and eclectic architecture. It houses museums, monuments, gardens, and holds one of the milestones of Brazil's independence.
  • Igreja Santa Cruz das Almas dos Enforcados: Located in Liberty Square, with a history linked to the death penalty.
  • Capela Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos: The church was founded on June 27, 1779, in the center of the cemetery, which remains in the same location and is still a popular pilgrimage center.
  • Vila Portuguesa: Historic neighborhood of São Paulo, with preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, located near Liberty Square, with narrow streets and colorful houses.
