Heritage Walk: Tracing the legacy of the islamic mataram Kingdom in Yogyakarta

This was a really illuminating tour. It was only 1-1/2 hours, but wow did he fit a lot into those 90 minutes. I really feel like I understand the history of this city and Java in a way that I probably wouldn't get from a walking tour that focused on the usual touristic sights of the city. Suryawan was so knowledgable and answered my questions easily, which it really valuable. It wasn't just a script with him; he really knew his city and his country. I also have to give him credit for following through on the tour after the only other attendee canceled. It's a lot of time to give to just one person, but he happily led me around solo. Much appreciated :)

This tour is a must do if you wish to understand more about the history of the oldest area of Jogjakarta. It was sad to see that batik and silver manufacturing have almost completely dissappeared from Kotagede. Our guide was excellent.

A fantastic tour that took us through the history of the area, including some Hindu sites and some of the old kota buildings and traditions and food. It was just extremely interesting and well worth doing.

I learned a lot about the history & culture of the oldest part of Yogyakarta, and tried delicious local street food! In 1.5 hour one can gain quite a lot of knowledge with Surya :)
