Highly recommend the walking tour around Georgetown with JS! He is incredibly passionate, thorough, and well-versed in the history and culture of Penang, which really comes across throughout the tour. We spent around 5 hours walking around Georgetown, exploring the town and learning so many cool and unique tidbits along the way. It was a great way to see the city beyond the usual tourist spots and understand its history and culture on a much deeper level. If you’re in Penang and want to explore Georgetown while learning about its fascinating history, I definitely recommend booking a walking tour directly with JS!

Highly recommended, especially if you do it at the beginning of your stay in George Town! The tour takes you through the main heritage sites in the city centre, while our guide, JS, gave us a deep dive into the history and culture of the city. He also shared plenty of great local recommendations for food, transportation, and other useful tips.

JS was an unbelievably enthusiastic guide. He has huge energy and this comes across well in the tour when he is explaining things for the tourists. He answered every question asked of him, and when there was a question he actually didn't have the answer to he immediately took out his phone and found the answer online. He also took us to a very nice local street food place after the tour and spent time with us chatting about all things Malaysia. A tour with JS is a must do if you're out and about in George Town.

Truly eye opening the interlink of the region's chinese migration stories, and the lead up to the 10 days major clash. Alot more meaningful if you understand chinese as some of the cultural aspects are very poetic.

Excellent tour, great route and informative, hit all the main spots. Clear speaking with speaker system, a lively personality. Turned out to be a bit longer than the 4 hours but at least it was cooler in late afternoon. Good sized group too at 6.

It was a very interesting tour - covers almost all the interesting points in the Heritage Area. The tour guide (JS) is very passionate about sharing stories about different aspects of Georgetown and Penang in general. As well as the connections with different people and countries that had an impact on this region. History buffs and genuinely interested tourists will appreciate it a lot more than the casual tourists who want to just be shown the sights with minimal information.

Has a great knowledge of the island's history from the initial discovery by the British through to Japanese WWII occupation and independance in 1957. He told us countless stories of when the fortress was built and how the waterfront was reclaimed and the harbour moved. So much interesting history. Thank you.

Eskay is a very kind, knowledgeable and humours guide. The tour is more than 3 hours long. No one has left the tour in the mid way. He kept us very entertained. Highly recommend

Eskay war sehr nett und bemüht. Er hat immer dafür gesorgt, dass wir im Schatten stehen, eine Abkühlung bekommen. (Die Samosas waren fabelhaft.) Würde die Tour mit Eskay weiter empfehlen. Man hat nochmal andere Ecken von Georgetown kennengelernt. Er konnte viel zu den einzelnen Stationen erzählen. Sehr interessant.

Fantastic walking tour from JS, who was an incredibly friendly and generous guide. This is a four hour tour but the time flies by, with lots of interesting historical context and impressive colonial buildings to look at. As far as possible every stop is in the shade which stops the heat from being overwhelming. JS was kind enough to show us some food and drink options after the tour. Overall a great experience and a great way to explore Georgetown.
