Free walking tours in George Town

We booked a tour. In total we were with 4 people on the tour. We saw 6 places where we tried multiple things. We got some information about the food. In between stops we walked for a bit and got also some information about the city en buildings. Our tourguide was also really nice and if we had questions we could always ask. We really liked it.

We had a great time with Ang - he knows so much and gives you far more than information on the secret society. He's happy to answer questions and knows some great food spots. All very interesting!

Strongly recommended! Ken is very Kind and very on time. Her knowledge about de history of chinese migrations to Penang and clans is hice and very enthusiastic. Book it people!

Uncle Eskay was a fantastic guide. He really helped make Penang come alive for us. He was very knowledgeable, had a great sense of humour & showed us a huge variety of different places. Time for photos, but kept us on the move. Highly recommended.

We loved this tour for an introduction to Penang history. Although we were small group our guide provided us all with earpieces to make sure we could hear everything shared. The information and demonstration on Toaist practices was very detailed. Really liked the nutmeg juice and food recommendations as well.

This was a great tour. Ken was enthusiastic, polite, and was a wealth of information and facts about Chinese immigrant culture and wider Penang. We also really liked the rest half way through with drinks and snacks. Ken also understood our needs and gave a water break when asked. We highly recommend this tour to learn more about how the Chinese impacted Penang and Malaysia.

CC was a truly exceptional guide. He took me around Georgetown, discovering temples, murals and sharing the history of this incredible place that over the centuries has been shaped by so many different peoples — from British colonial rule to Chinese secret societies, to the Indian and Malay communities. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour. Although it was 3 hours long, the walk was easy and at a good pace. We covered many parts of Georgetown, earned a good understanding of the heritage and enjoyed hearing all the stories and anecdotes by the guide. It was a great 3 hours well spent!!

Eskay was amazing. He definitely knew his history and information which was appealing to the group in wanting 'off the beaten path' experience around Georgetown. He was funny, mixing humour with his presentations to provide an interesting and entertaining afternoon in the hot sun.

I had such an amazing moment by making the walking tour with Uncle Eskay. He is very friendly and has a looot of knowledge about the city. I definitely recommend it !

I have participated in walking tours in multiple cities/countries (e.g., Barcelona, Rome, and Marrakesh), so I am writing this review with a fairly broad basis for comparison. I would rate Southbeast Asia Heritage as the most professional. We were each provided with a headset and a well-written information booklet. The group wasn't large. The tour was more than 3 hours, but it remained engaging throughout. Highly recommended.

Eskay made the tour so entertaining and informative! I learnt a lot even as a Singaporean, where we share similar history as Penang. Eskay even treated us to some really delicious samosas and milk tea! I enjoyed the tour thoroughly!
