非常推荐！如果想真正了解乔治市，非常值得跟Ken走一次。 Ken准备得非常充分，也特别会讲故事。Tour一开始，Ta没有直接从年份和历史事件讲起，而是现场研磨豆蔻，让大家先从气味认识槟城，再自然地从香料延伸到航运、贸易、移民，以及George Town如何在不同族群的迁徙与聚集中逐渐形成。整个行程最特别的是，Ken很会通过五感让人真正体验一座城市：亲手触摸锡，理解这种资源与马来亚经济发展的关系；闻现磨的香料，从嗅觉进入港口与香料贸易的历史；走到Little India又品尝印度Samosa，从味觉感受不同族群留下的文化。视觉和听觉更是贯穿全程——Ta随身带着厚厚一本中英对照的历史图片和资料册，走到哪里讲到哪里，需要补充时就翻出相应的老照片和资料；也会带着我们观察路牌上的不同语言和旧地名，看庙宇、会馆、店屋和街区如何一层层叠加。路线和节奏设计得非常好，从不同华人社群聚集的街区一路走到Little India，一边走、一边看、一边听，能够非常生动地感受到不同族群如何来到这里、聚集、生活，又把自己的文化延续至今。途中还有豆蔻小零食和各种小小的实物展示，整个行程一直有惊喜。Ken知识面也非常丰富，有问必答，我们一路聊到了移民、宗教、殖民历史、华人社群，甚至现代槟城的产业发展，很多临时想到的问题Ta都能很快解释清楚，还很耐心地帮忙拍照和视频。三个多小时一直边走边聊，却完全不会觉得漫长，反而觉得时间过得特别快。你得到的并不是一堂移动历史课，而是一场多感官的城市阅读。最大的收获是，走完以后真的会用完全不同的眼光重新看George Town。建筑和街道本身当然值得看，但有了背后的历史、人物和故事，才能真正感受到这座城市的厚度，也更能理解为什么George Town会成为UNESCO世界文化遗产。非常推荐第一次来槟城的人跟Ken走一趟，谢谢Ken带来这么充实、有趣又难忘的一个下午！
Highly recommended — a wonderful way to truly understand George Town! Ken was incredibly well prepared, knowledgeable, and engaging. Instead of beginning with dates and historical facts, he introduced the city through smell, grinding nutmeg on the spot and naturally connecting spices to maritime trade, shipping, migration, and the way George Town gradually grew through the movement and settlement of different communities. What made the tour especially memorable was how Ken used all five senses to help us experience the city: we got to touch tin and understand its connection to Malaya’s economic history, smell freshly ground spices while learning about Penang as a trading port, and later taste an Indian samosa while walking through Little India. Sight and sound were equally important throughout the journey. Ken carried a thick bilingual Chinese-English reference book filled with historical photographs and materials, pulling out relevant images as we reached different places. He also encouraged us to look closely at street signs, different languages and old place names, temples, clan buildings and shophouses, allowing us to actually see how different communities and cultures accumulated layer by layer within the same city. The route and pacing were excellent, moving naturally through areas shaped by different Chinese communities and into Little India, so that history never felt detached from the streets around us. There were thoughtful little surprises throughout the tour as well, from physical objects used for demonstrations to local nutmeg snacks. Ken was extremely patient with questions and seemed able to answer almost everything immediately. We talked about migration, religion, colonial history, Chinese communities, and even modern Penang and its industries. He was also very helpful with taking photos and videos along the way. We walked and talked for more than three hours, yet the time passed incredibly quickly. What you get is not simply a history lesson on the move, but a multisensory reading of the city. I came away seeing George Town completely differently. The streets and buildings are fascinating on their own, but with the people, stories and historical context behind them, you begin to appreciate the true depth of the city — and understand why George Town deserves its UNESCO World Heritage status. I would highly recommend this tour, especially to anyone visiting Penang for the first time. Thank you, Ken, for such an informative, thoughtful and memorable afternoon!
