Hyuen was very friendly, open, and communicative, and answered all sorts of questions. With wit and charm, he shared information about historically important places, was very patient, and always made sure no one got lost. He also allowed plenty of breaks so we could buy drinks, use the restroom, or grab snacks from street food stalls. A very worthwhile tour and highly recommended! ☺️

I'm so glad I joined Ken’s walking tour in George Town! Finding a great Chinese-speaking guide on GuruWalk is pretty rare, so I booked her tour as soon as I saw it, and it turned out to be the best decision ever. Even though I was the only person on the tour that day, Ken didn't cancel or rush through anything. Since I'm deeply interested in Chinese history and culture, she customized the route specifically for me. Her knowledge is incredible, and she even brought a binder full of photos and visual aids. One of the highlights was visiting a local bookstore called Phi, where I had an insightful chat with the staff about the challenges of heritage preservation in a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ken also introduced me to local residents, enthusiastically translating Hokkien so I could experience the authentic local life. She was immensely patient with all my endless questions and adjusted our pace based on the weather. If you want a deep, warm, and tailored experience of George Town, you should definitely book a tour with Ken!

This is a great tour for people keen to understand a bit more about the history of Chinese migration and secret societies. Ken did a really great job explaining a complicated history and making it interesting while also showing us some important landmarks around George Town. She is super knowledgeable and was open to all our questions. I highly recommend this tour!

Ken took us on a great tour in Penang, completely out of the beaten tracks and she brought us on a fascinating journey through history. We now understand much better the local geopolitics, the neighborhood dynamics and modern Malaysia through its early history. Ken is super knowledgeable, smart and warm. We could even enjoy a super cool break tasting tea and samosas on her advice. On top of that, probably because of the originality of the tour theme, the other attendees were very interesting and we made great encounters.

JS was an informative and knowledgeable guide for our GuruWalk in Penang. More than four hours of walking in the intense heat was certainly challenging, but there was so much to learn and absorb along the way. I would definitely recommend JS as a guide for anyone looking for a good introduction to Penang.

Excellent tour! Excellent history and background provided. He made sure we stopped at shaded areas and had water breaks and washroom breaks. Good pace. Make sure to bring hats/umbrellas/sunscreen and sunglasses. Highly recommended.

Ashline fue muy cuidadosa en buscar siempre un rincón en la sombra para darnos las explicaciones. Un tour muy recomendable para conocer algo más de la historia de Penang.
