Free walking tours in George Town

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us about the importance of the UNESCO site. It was very hot but we made use of the shade and stopped for some nutmeg juice (absolutely delicious!) our favourite part was visiting the mafia temple and finding their escape routes! The headset was a great way to clearly hear our guide!

I had a great time. Heard a lot of info about the history of George Town and even tried tasty, malaysian dishes! Lim spoke good english and gave us a bottle of free water each and even had an umbrella for me, so I could hide from the sun heat. Highly recomended!

It’s a long tour, but worth it. Hot, but Uncle Eskay was kind enough to buy us iced milk tea midway through. Two bathroom breaks. I recommend his tour to all.

It was a great tour. We had super interesting conversations about the country, religion, and culture. He took us around the city, and even when the rain caught us but it wasn’t a problem at all because we were so engaged in the conversations. Definitely worth doing if you’re visiting Penang.

I can't recommend this tour enough. As a full time traveller, walking tours are my go to when I arrive in a new town. I consider myself a bit of an expert having experienced many good ones and more than a few bad ones. This one with JS was amongst the best I've done. JS was full of information and background about the history of Penang. He was knowledgable, engaging and entertaining. His English is impeccable and his accent easily understandable which makes things so much easier as I wear hearing aids. Most of all, he was flexible. If we had specialised interests, as the other person on the tour did, he pivoted to include that. He was also in no rush, the tour stretched as we spent more time in different places. The tour itself is wide ranging and an excellent introduction to the history, culture and food of Georgetown. Do yourself a favour and book onto this tour when you come here. We were having a really great time together and spend more then 4h with JS. He is speaking a very good English and get's never tired of answering questions. We were getting impressions of really nearly every area within the heritage center. At the end he took us to 2 further spots to get good street food and Cendol additionally. Highly recommended tour!
