Meatpacking, High Line and Chelsea: Underground Culture, Ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel, and Tales of the Wild 1990'S

Join me for a walk on the wild side! Of all of NYC's neighborhood transformations, none has been more radical, unexpected and hilarious (to those of us who lived the old NYC) than that of the Meatpacking District! Don't let the designer shops and high end restaurants fool you- only 25 years ago this area was teaming with illegal all night parties, gritty street characters, and literal blood (ok, cows and pigs, not people, but still...) in the streets! We’ll explore this district, walk the beautiful High Line Park, and tell stories of the ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel!

I’ve been a New Yorker for almost 30 years, and I’ll give you not just the important history, but the current culture as well. We’ll talk theater, restaurants and nightlife, art and architecure, as well as my own personal experiences with the area. I’ll give you tips on how to navigate the city more smoothly, and explain the mysterious ways of the New Yorker to you. And we’ll find time for some laughs along the way…I love NYC with all my heart, and I can’t wait to share my knowledge with you!
