Definitely worth considering a walking tour to orient yourselves to a new city, get recommendations on places to visit etc. We were with a 6 year old and the walk was not uncomfortable for her although she was rather bored. So maybe not for families with very young kids.

The tour lasted approximately 2.5 hours and included stops at iconic places such as Steam Clock, The Library, Art Gallery. The best part was the mix of history and culture, along with small details that usually go unnoticed. I also had time to take photos and ask questions.
