Colmar history, characters, wine and freedom.
Tour description
Imagine a city straight out of a fairy tale, with colorful facades and flower-filled balconies.
Colmar is not something to look at, it is something to live! I invite you to stroll through its charming old town and discover its history, its people and its flavours. It is not just a list of monuments: it is a journey through time and the cultural mix of this border region, reflected in its architecture, wines, art and cuisine. I will tell you which geographical and human factors have made Colmar famous for its wines, and why Alsace has been central to the ancient and recent history of France and Germany.
We will visit the impressive Collegiate Church of Saint Martin , where we will talk about saints, design and rights. We will discover the life of the creator of the Statue of Liberty at the Bartholdi Museum . Did you know that he was born here?
We will be craving traditional glasses and sweets at the Wine and Chocolate Museum . We will see the farm and the smallest house in Colmar.
We will discover the postcard Alsace (and not only) in the Hansi Museum , in the enigmatic House of the Heads , in the elegant House Pfister and in the Old Customs House . We will pass in front of the Schwendi Fountain , the Curtitori Street and the romantic Little Venice .
We will end the walk at the Covered Market , surrounded by the scents and local products. We will not enter the museums, but I will tell you what you will find in each one, so you can choose based on your curiosity.
