Hello! My name is Cecilia, and I’m proud to be Singaporean. I’ve always had a passion for travel and have explored many countries over the years starting from 1987, where I embarked on a backpacking journey across Europe to work and travel for three incredible years in my youth. Upon returning, I spent over 20 years working in the travel industry, continuing to fuel my love for exploration. I have learnt so much about the unique cultures, histories, and heritage of different countries. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I took the opportunity to rediscover my own country. I joined local tours and nature walks, and to my delight, I found that Singapore is rich in history and heritage too. I am now a professional Singapore Tourism Board (STB) registered tour guide and I can’t wait to share the Singapore stories with you!

Tour description

Step into a vibrant mosaic of heritage, faith, and community on this immersive walking tour through Little India. Begin your journey at the roots of Serangoon’s settlement, where early Indian immigrants made their mark amid rivers, racecourses, and rattan. Discover beautifully preserved places of worship, from the grand Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple to the humble Foochow Methodist Church, reflecting the area’s rich spiritual tapestry.

Marvel at the last Chinese villa in the district, learn the secrets of traditional trades depicted in murals, and follow the scent of spices to third-generation family businesses. Along the way, uncover fascinating stories—from astrologers with parakeets to brides receiving gold thalis.

Conclude your adventure with hands-on experiences at the Indian Heritage Centre and savour the buzz of Tekka Market. This tour is a feast for the senses and a heartfelt tribute to the resilient, diverse community that shaped Little India.
