Tour description
Hello travelers ✌🏻
My name is Esteban, and I'll be your guide through the historic center of Tunja, an iconic landmark, the birthplace of national independence, and a city steeped in history and colonial-era buildings.
We will begin our tour in the emblematic Plaza del Libertador, the heart of the city. We will visit emblematic buildings such as the Pila del Mono (Monkey's Fountain), which was so important during the time of Spanish rule. The Metropolitan Basilica, one of the oldest churches in the Americas, is one of the oldest churches in the Americas. Santo Domingo Chapel, a majestic work of art with its enigmatic murals dating back to the 15th century. The Founder's House, a well-preserved colonial building that housed the Spanish captain Gonzalo Suárez Rendón, founder of the city. The Martyrs' Wall, where you will learn about the sad significance of this place, which the city preserves to this day, is one of many other architectural gems.
Our tour will end at the same place where we met.
I hope you'll consider taking some time during your trip to the heart of Boyacá to experience these and many other experiences that the city of Tunja has to offer...
