I would definitely recommend this tour! YUAN is so passionate about the city, and shared with us a lot of curiosities about the city and the Chinese culture. She was very happy to answer all our questions, and even helped us ordering some food which would match our dietary requirements! Also, she is a wonderful person!

Yuan was fantastic, we had a lot of fun exploring the city centre and along the river. She was attentive, helpful and very approachable. Also very knowledgeable about the city. The pace of the tour was just about right. A very lovely evening indeed. Highly recommended.

Where to begin. I consider myself lucky: due to last-minute cancellations, this tour became a private one. That suits me well, as it makes it easier to engage directly with the guide, and it seemed to suit Yuan too.
Yuan is a professional and knowledgeable guide, and her friendly, relaxed manner was a good fit for this kind of tour. She communicated well beforehand, letting me know the tour would be private and making sure we could find each other at the meeting point.
The tour itself was fascinating, and she showed me many spots I would surely have missed as a tourist, such as the Tang-Song dynasty street ruins beneath IFS. She wove Chengdu's history together with anecdotes from her own life, which made it feel personal rather than like information lifted from a Wikipedia article. I also enjoyed the route and timing, which blended the city's history with its contemporary side and nightlife.
The best part was that Yuan was clearly passionate about the city and wanted me to share that passion, without ever being pushy. She helped me interact with other locals and showed genuine interest in my story and where I come from. This gave me a wonderful impression of Chengdu and its people.
Afterwards she followed up to make sure I felt settled in the city and offered to help with any questions. As you can probably tell, I give this tour and Yuan the highest rating possible. It became a memorable moment not just of my time in Chengdu, but of my whole trip to China.
The only negative is entirely my own doing: my visit was too short to join Yuan's other tours, which I'm sure are just as good. I'm definitely excited to come back, and next time I promise I'll sing karaoke by the riverside!
