Hi, I’m Shawn, a local walking tour guide based in Lanzhou, China. Lanzhou is a city shaped by the Yellow River, Silk Road history, and a unique mix of cultures from Northwest China. On my tours, I focus on helping travelers see the city beyond the surface — not just landmarks, but the everyday life, food culture, and stories that make Lanzhou distinctive. White Pagoda Mountain AreaFrom this area, we will observe White Pagoda Mountain, an important historical and cultural landmark overlooking the city. It provides a panoramic view of Lanzhou and helps explain how geography shaped the city’s development along the river valley.

Yellow River Scenic BeltWe will walk along the Yellow River promenade, where you can see how the city and the river interact in daily life. This area shows the real relationship between Lanzhou’s residents and the Yellow River, including local leisure activities, bridges, and riverside landscapes.

Waterwheel Expo ParkThis site showcases the traditional Lanzhou waterwheel system, an ancient irrigation technology that dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Historically, these wooden waterwheels were widely used along the Yellow River to lift water from the river to farmland, making them an important part of local agriculture and daily life.
