Description
Meeting point: Starbucks Café inside the Rossio train station. Lisbon.
Train journey: 45 minutes, during which we will tell the history of the main stations such as Campolide (aqueduct), Benfica (Estádio da Luz), Queluz-Belas (Queluz Palace), Reboleira (end of the blue Metro line), Portela (connection with Cascais) and the last station, Sintra.
Upon arriving in Sintra, we will go to the restrooms since the train does not have any, then we will walk to the historic center, viewing from the outside the Manueline architecture of the Municipal Palace, the Castle of the Moors. We will walk along Volta do Duche path to reach the National Palace. Then we will go to Cantinho Gourmet to learn about the history of Ginjinha, a typical liqueur, drink it in chocolate cups, and taste the Travesseiros and Queijadas pastries.
Next, we will learn about the history of the romantics who were inspired by Sintra, such as António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, and walk to finish at the Quinta da Regaleira Palace. (Entrance NOT included €20 per adult) Optional guided tour.
Tour not adapted for people with reduced mobility, and people with low or no vision.
