Mystical Journeys Évora – Roman Ebora
Description
The Mystical Journeys Évora are guided tours of contemplation weaving together history, nature, and mysticism, leading to the discovery of Évora’s hidden secrets and the megalithic monuments that surround the city.
Among the various routes we offer, here we present the most classic one: the ROMAN EBORA JOURNEY.
Around 2,000 years ago, the city of Ebora flourished for four centuries, becoming one of the most prestigious cities in the Roman province of Lusitania. Even today, Évora preserves historical traces of that era, waiting to be explored.
The walk begins beside the statue of Garcia de Resende, in Évora’s Public Garden, crossing one of the gateways in the city’s surrounding wall. The first stop is the Interpretative Center of the City of Évora, inside the D. Manuel Palace.
From there, we head to Praça do Giraldo, the center square, following the remnants of the ancient aqueduct until reaching the City Hall, where we visit the Roman Baths.
The path continues on foot along the old Roman wall, passing through the Roman Arch of Dona Isabel and onward to the Jardim dos Colegiais.
The next stage leads us to the Páteo de São Miguel, the site of the city’s former castle.
