Dublin: Wild Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough & Guinness Lake

Unlike many larger coach tours, our smaller coach takes you beyond the main roads and deeper into the Wicklow Mountains, with access to spectacular mountain roads, valleys and viewpoints that larger vehicles often cannot reach.

Winter Tour – 1 November to 4 April During the shorter winter days, we operate a specially adapted and shorter winter itinerary, normally returning to Dublin around 4:00–4:30pm. This usually excludes Killiney Hill and Avoca, allowing us to focus on the Wicklow Mountains, Lough Tay and Glendalough. The exact route and stops may also vary depending on winter weather, visibility and road conditions, with alternative stops included where possible.

Itinerary Highlights

Explore Dublin’s Coastline Begin with a scenic drive along Dublin’s southern coastline, passing picturesque seaside towns. During our main-season itinerary, enjoy a short walk up Killiney Hill for beautiful coastal views before stopping at Avoca for coffee and time to browse.

Journey Deep into the Wild Wicklow Mountains Leave the main roads behind as we travel through the spectacular Sally Gap. Discover rolling heather-covered mountains, rugged peaks, vast boglands and deep mountain lakes.

See locations associated with films and television including Vikings, Braveheart and P.S. I Love You, and stop to admire one of Wicklow’s most famous views — Lough Tay, better known as the Guinness Lake.

Lunch in a Traditional Irish Pub Take time to relax over lunch in a traditional Irish pub and enjoy some genuine Irish hospitality. Lunch is not included and is payable locally.

Step into History at Glendalough Join your guide for an introduction to the ancient monastic settlement of Glendalough, founded by St Kevin in the 6th century.

Explore its famous round tower, ancient stone churches and historic ruins while hearing the stories and legends behind one of Ireland’s most important early Christian sites.

Explore the Glendalough Valley Enjoy free time to discover Glendalough at your own pace. Walk between the Upper and Lower Lakes, take in the surrounding mountains or simply enjoy the peace and scenery of this remarkable valley.

• In winter, the exact route and stops may vary depending on weather, visibility and road conditions. Alternative stops will be included where possible.
• Minimum passenger numbers apply during the winter months. If a tour cannot operate due to insufficient numbers, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
• Recommended for children aged 5+. Younger children may join, but parents should consider the full-day duration, walking and coach travel.
• Winter tour – 1 November to 4 April: The winter itinerary is shorter due to reduced daylight hours, with arrival back in Dublin normally around 4:00–4:30pm. The route is adapted for shorter daylight hours and normally excludes Killiney Hill and Avoca, with more focus on the Wicklow Mountains, Lough Tay and Glendalough.
