If you're in Madrid and want to discover one of the most charming towns in Castilla-La Mancha, this tour is for you! We will meet at the specified time at our departure point for our adventure to Consuegra, famous for being home to the iconic windmills that so greatly inspired Cervantes.
We will travel in comfort by minibus to this picturesque town in the province of Toledo. Upon arrival, we will make a short stop at the Plaza de España in Consuegra, where you will have some free time to have breakfast or soak up the local atmosphere and learn about Consuegra's medieval history.
Next, we will begin our guided tour of Cerro Calderico, the site of Consuegra's famous windmills. Here, you can admire these gigantic structures and learn the story behind them. Did you know that Don Quixote mistook them for giants in his famous adventure? During the tour, you will also discover how these Manchego landscapes inspired Miguel de Cervantes to create his most famous work.
After exploring the hill, we will visit the interior of the Rucio Mill, one of the most iconic mills in the area. Through this experience, you will learn about how they operated in the past and their historical significance in the region.
The next stop on our tour will be the Castillo de la Muela, an impressive medieval fortress perched on a hilltop. The Castle has a fascinating history, having served as a key stronghold during the Reconquista thanks to its strategic location. You will enjoy a guided tour inside the castle, where you will explore its rooms and ramparts and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding area.
After the castle visit, we will head back to Madrid, where we will arrive at the meeting point, bringing to a close a 7-hour tour packed with history, culture, and unforgettable scenery.
Important: The guided tour of the castle will be conducted in Spanish only by the Consuegra Tourist Board.
Don't miss the opportunity to explore one of the most iconic corners of La Mancha!
