After your visit to Livraria Lello, your experience continues at the Livraria Lello Foundation, located in the historic Mosteiro de Leça do Balio in Matosinhos. The Monastery of Leça do Balio, a National Monument since 1910 and a historic stop on the Camino de Santiago, has been restored by Architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and now hosts the Livraria Lello Foundation and a cultural programme of exhibitions, debates, and education. The restoration preserves its medieval, Hospitaller origins while adding new spaces, including an exhibition centre, an ecumenical area, and the four-hectare Garden of Thought---designed by Siza Vieira and Sidónio Pardal, inspired by Byung-Chul Han, and featuring 12 sculptural works.

- The Foundation visit takes place at the Mosteiro de Leça do Balio, located about 8 km from Porto’s city center.
- The Foundation’s opening hours may vary – please check the official website before your visit.
- The visit of the Lello Library must happen at the chosen timeslot, please arrive 15 minutes before to check-in. Then, the visit to the Foundation may take place on the same day as the Lello Library or within 7 days, subject to availability.
- Transport to the Foundation is not included; visitors should arrange their own transportation.
- Visit during lunchtime and late afternoon for fewer crowds.
