Capture the essence of Florence's artistic heritage and explore the collections of two of the world's most famous galleries on this cultural tour. With knowledgeable guides, small groups, and express-entry tickets, you'll get the most out of your visit to these iconic institutions. Elena, one of the expert local guides, says, ‘Taking in so much art in a single day can be draining. With a guide to provide insight and context you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the collections and their place in Renaissance Italy and the wider world.’
At the Accademia Gallery, you'll explore the gallery's seven halls, marvel at paintings, frescoes, and altarpieces in the Hall of the Colossus, and learn why Michelangelo's unfinished statues in the Hall of Prisoners still spark curiosity today. The highlight of the tour is the Tribune, where you'll find the Accademia's star statue, Michelangelo's David, created by the artist when he was just 26 years old from a solid piece of marble.
Afterwards, your guide will lead you through the galleries to discover the unmissable masterpieces, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Caravaggio, and Titian. In a small group, you’ll gain an overview of the huge collection and explore the historic context, techniques, style, and symbolism of the most important artworks collected by the Medicis during the Renaissance.
