Versailles Palace, Gardens & Hidden King's Apartments Tour

Explore the exclusive sanctuaries of the King’s Apartments, courtesy of a special collaboration with the Palace of Versailles. Also referred to as the Petits Apartments, these chambers served as the private abode of monarchs. Unlike the grand appartement du roi and the appartement du roi, which welcomed court members and the public, access to the petit appartement du roi required the king's personal approval. Walk in the footsteps of royalty and the inner circle of the court and family as you discover these uncrowded rooms.

In addition to the King’s Apartments, embark on a journey through the expansive and opulent domain of the Palace and Gardens of Versailles on this semi-private tour, designed for no more than six guests. Accompanied by your knowledgeable, English-speaking guide, delve into the rich history and extravagant beauty of this iconic palace and its gardens.

Commence your adventure at the grand equestrian statue of King Louis XIV, proudly positioned in the palace forecourt, just before the gleaming golden gates. With skip-the-line access, skip the queues and step into the palace grounds.

Marvel at the results of the meticulous 30-year restoration project led by Gerald Ven Der Kamp as you explore the labyrinth of mythical fountains adorning the sprawling gardens. Following your exploration of the formal gardens, your guide will lead you into the heart of Versailles Palace.

Once a humble hunting lodge of King Louis XIII, Versailles underwent a remarkable transformation in the 17th century under the visionary leadership of King Louis XIV, emerging as the epitome of European luxury. Immerse yourself in the gilded halls and opulence of the magnificent palace, along with its tales of excess and political intrigue.

Beyond the public grandeur, discover the hidden treasures of Versailles: the king’s private chambers. Within these intimate spaces unfolded the personal lives of Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI – away from the ceremonial facade.

During Louis XIV’s reign, the apartments doubled as a museum for the king’s esteemed private collections. Admire exquisite treasures such as the pendulum constellation clock and delicate Equestrian statuette, immersing yourself in the private realm of royalty, from the porcelain-clad dining room to lavishly adorned bathrooms. As part of the king’s apartments tour, experience the magnificent opera house and/or cathedral [depending on the day of your visit], enriching your immersive Versailles experience.

Your passport ticket includes access not only to the palace and gardens, but also to the Trianon Estate. After your guided tour, you are free to continue exploring independently, including visits to the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet.
