From Edinburgh: Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glencoe & Highlands Tour

Embark on a scenic journey from Edinburgh through the Highlands to the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Pro tip: bring a packed lunch!

Leave the bustle of Edinburgh behind and cruise past iconic landmarks like the majestic Kelpies and the historic Stirling Castle as you journey north into the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

Once you cross into Highland territory, pause for refreshments in Balquhidder (Callander during the winter months). Get your cameras ready for Highland wildlife - perhaps even including meeting a few Highland cows, also known as hairy coos!

Onwards to Glencoe, a dramatic and renowned glen featured in films such as “James Bond’s Skyfall”, "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”. Snap epic photos and uncover Glencoe's dramatic history, including the 1692 MacDonald clan massacre. Depart this scenic valley and follow the banks of Loch Linnhe to Fort William, a Highland town situated at the base of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Britain.

The head west to the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, framed by the breathtaking mountains and shores of Loch Shiel. Take a short nature walk to one of the view point of the Glenfinnan Viaduct, but don’t miss the views of Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan Monument. Stroll along the shores and soak in the magical scenery.

Famous from the Harry Potter films, this enchanting location is famous for the Jacobite Steam Train, often compared to the Hogwarts Express! If it is running, we'll do our best to arrive in time to watch the train cross the viaduct. (Please note: the Jacobite Steam train runs on a seasonal basis during the summer. We aim to see it on the 7am departures until 25.09.2026, and on 8am departures until 23.10.2026. Please check with the train operator for service updates. Train is not guaranteed, and you will not be able to board).

Our scenic journey back to Edinburgh begins with our first stop is the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, where you can take in the impressive views of the Nevis Range. Continue along the picturesque Loch Laggan and then ascend above the Grampian Mountains.

Travel through the western regions of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and pause in the charming village of Pitlochry for refreshments. Take a stroll through this picturesque Victorian town or grab a quick bite to eat before making your way back to Edinburgh, arriving at approximately 12 hours after departure.

This tour has been designed to show you as much of Scotland as we can fit into one day! Due to the distance driven a large portion of the tour is spent on the bus, taking in the views and scenery of Scotland.

Know before you go

• Buses don't have toilets on board, but we make frequent comfort breaks.
• Children must be over 7 years old, you may be asked for ID for proof of age.
• Estimated duration of tour is 12 hours, please allow a minimum of 2 hours for any onward travel in case of delays.
• The Highlands have plenty of winding roads as well as breathtaking views! If you suffer from motion sickness, we advise that you take preventative measures.
• The Jacobite steam train is run by a third party. We cannot guarantee the timing or that it will be running. You will not be able to board the Jacobite steam train.
• This tour runs year round, and as the Scottish weather can change quickly we suggest checking the forecast and perhaps bringing waterproof shoes/jackets!
• We do not allocate seats, seats are chosen when boarding.
