2.5-hour gourmet tour of the 9th arrondissement: covered passageways, Rue des Martyrs, followed by a tasting of 4 wines, cheeses, and charcuterie, led by two enthusiastic guides. Small group (10 people max).
A walk through 400 years of Parisian culinary history
Did you know that the first French “fast-food” restaurant opened in 1851, in a Parisian covered passageway? That the white tablecloth you associate with bistros was invented by a certain Verdeau? Or that Rue Cadet owes its name to two gardeners who grew strawberries on a former royal dump?
This tour tells the story of Paris through its products, its artisans, and its little-known anecdotes. All this while strolling leisurely through Passage Jouffroy, Passage Verdeau, Rue Cadet, and Rue des Martyrs—an authentic gourmet village in the heart of the capital.
A guided tasting of 4 wines, cheeses, and charcuterie
After about an hour of walking, the second part of the tour takes place at a cozy Parisian wine shop. Together, we take the time to taste 4 wines that are representative of France's major wine-growing regions: a lively white (Sancerre or Chablis), a fruity red (Beaujolais or Burgundy), a full-bodied red (Bordeaux or Cahors), and a sweet wine to end on a delightful note (Sauternes or Banyuls).
Each glass is accompanied by carefully selected products from the artisans we encountered during our walk: ripened cheeses, regional charcuterie, country bread, and, to round things off, madeleines.
An interactive format: 3 actions, 4 key words
No lecture-style instruction. For each wine, we perform the same three simple actions together (look, smell, taste), we memorize a key word, and conversation flows freely: we share our impressions, we guess the aromas, and we exchange ideas. At the end, you'll leave with a tasting vocabulary that you can use anywhere, and the feeling that you've truly understood what you've been drinking.
Who is it for?
This tour is for curious people who enjoy eating, drinking, and learning—it's not just for experts. We will accompany you throughout the tour, in French or English. The small group format (maximum 10 people) guarantees an intimate and friendly experience.
