To help you discover Lazio's native grape varieties, we organize tastings among the barrels, where you can sample our organic wines.
The tasting is accompanied by a selection of local food products.
The winery is located within the medieval village of Castello di Torre in Pietra, where the existence of vineyards has been documented since the 16th century, when the estate belonged to the Peretti family of Pope Sixtus V. The winery – carved out of the tuff hill behind the castle – was already in use in the 1500s for the production and storage of wine. Osteria dell’Elefante is the latest project to complement the activities of the winery and the organic farm.
The idea is to offer our wines paired with ingredients and cuisine from the Roman countryside.
To this end, we use our own farm products as well as those of other organic livestock farmers and crop producers in the Lazio region.
The experience includes discovering native Lazio grape varieties. We organize tastings among the barrels to tell you about our organic wines and let you sample them.
To accompany the wines, we offer a selection of local food products.
Our sommelier will tell you about the history of our winery, the grape varieties grown in our region, and our wines. The tasting includes a selection of 4 wines, paired with a lunch in our osteria, in a room carved out of the tuff rock.
