Meet your guide at the base of the Spanish Steps near the Barcaccia Fountain. Begin with a brief introduction to Rome's historic center layout and ancient water system.
Please note: The Aqua Virgo building is currently under renovation, so we are replacing it with Castel Sant’Angelo for a limited time.
Walk along the path of the ancient Aqua Virgo, the only Roman aqueduct still functioning today. Arrive at the breathtaking Trevi Fountain before the thickest crowds gather. Your guide will highlight hidden architectural details embedded in the baroque travertine facade and reveal the historical tradition behind the coin toss.
From Trevi, weave through peaceful side streets to Piazza Colonna to stand beneath the massive, intricately carved Marcus Aurelius Column. Continue toward the Temple of Hadrian, where massive ancient columns are seamlessly built into Rome's modern stock exchange building.
Arrive at Piazza della Rotonda to stand before the best-preserved ancient monument in the world: the Pantheon. Your guide will unpack the mysteries of its unreinforced concrete dome and open oculus from the exterior before leading you through the charming cobble streets to your final stop, Piazza Navona.
Conclude your stroll surrounded by street artists, baroque palaces, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini's famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, leaving you perfectly positioned in the heart of Rome to explore or grab lunch.
