The National Roman Museum is not one building but a set of sites spread across the centre of Rome, and this pass covers three of them: Palazzo Massimo, Palazzo Altemps and the Baths of Diocletian. The pass stays valid for a week, so you can see them all in one day or spread them across your stay. Our host meets you near Termini station and hands over your pass in person, so nothing depends on a phone signal or a printer. With it you receive our own written walking route, which sets out the order to visit the three sites, the walking time between them and what to look for in each. Palazzo Massimo holds the finest of the collection: the bronze Boxer at Rest, marble portraits of emperors, and on the top floor the painted garden room from the villa of Livia, moved here wall by wall. Palazzo Altemps, a Renaissance palace a short walk from Piazza Navona, displays sculpture in the rooms of the family who once collected it. The Baths of Diocletian occupy the remains of the largest bath complex the Romans ever built, with an epigraphic collection and a quiet cloister attributed to Michelangelo. The route we send suggests starting at the Baths, since they sit beside the meeting point, then walking to Palazzo Massimo and continuing towards Altemps, ending near Piazza Navona. Roughly four hours if you keep moving, a full day if you take your time.

Know before you go
- Please arrive at the meeting point at the time shown on your booking, as your pass is handed over in person. Our host waits at Largo di Villa Peretti 2, directly in front of the entrance to Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, two minutes on foot from Termini station. Bring photo ID, as staff may ask for it at the entrances, and a reduced-rate pass always requires ID. The pass allows one entry to each of the three sites and stays valid for seven days from the first scan, so you can see them in one day or spread them across your stay. Allow about four hours for all three if you visit them together. All sites are closed on Mondays and on some public holidays. Crypta Balbi is not part of this pass, as the site is closed for restoration. Large bags cannot be taken inside; cloakrooms are available at each entrance.
