Your haunted adventure through London’s West End begins with a deliciously over-the-top sweet treat before setting off into the shadows of Theatreland. Over the next two hours, you’ll enjoy several sweet stops while uncovering the ghosts, murders, mysterious happenings, and legendary performers that have haunted London’s stages for centuries.
With your first big, fluffy sweet treat in hand, we’ll head toward Drury Lane and some of the West End’s most historic theatres. Hear about the mysterious Woman in Black reportedly spotted backstage at the Fortune Theatre before discovering the many spirits associated with Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Keep watch for the famous Man in Grey, an elegantly dressed figure who has been seen walking through the theatre before mysteriously disappearing through a wall.
Our journey continues toward the Lyceum Theatre, where stories range from a ghostly severed head to unexplained poltergeist activity. You’ll also discover the theatre’s connection to Bram Stoker, who worked here while writing Dracula.
After all those ghost stories, it’s time for something sweet. Depending on the evening, you may enjoy a Portuguese pastel de nata with crisp pastry and creamy custard, or an indulgent cinnamon pastry layered with cinnamon, vanilla custard, and icing.
From there, we’ll head toward the Strand and hear the tragic story of Victorian actor William Terriss, who was murdered outside the Adelphi Theatre and whose ghost is said to have appeared around the West End ever since.
We’ll continue through St Martin’s Lane, passing more legendary theatres and hearing stories of ghostly soldiers, unexplained footsteps, mysterious voices, moving curtains, and performers who apparently never left the stage.
Along the way, we’ll stop for even more delicious sweet treats, with flavors and selections that can change with the seasons. With another sweet bite in hand, we’ll cross Leicester Square and continue toward Haymarket for the final ghost stories of the evening.
Part sweet treats tour, part haunted history walk, and part theatrical adventure, this experience combines delicious pastries and indulgent bites with the darker side of London’s legendary West End.
Come hungry, bring your curiosity, and discover what happens when the lights go down and London’s ghosts take the stage.
