Visit the beautiful medieval town of Kutná Hora on a full-day guided trip from Prague, starting and ending at Prague Main Railway Station. Travel by train in a group limited to 15 guests, giving you more opportunity to talk with your guide and ask questions along the way. Your guide takes care of the tickets and travel arrangements, leaving you free to relax and enjoy the journey.
Travel through the Bohemian countryside to Kutná Hora, once one of the wealthiest towns in medieval Europe. Its rich silver mines transformed the town into one of the most influential cities in the Kingdom of Bohemia. Today, its historic centre forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your first stop is Sedlec Ossuary, better known as the Bone Church. Hear why the remains of tens of thousands of people came to rest here and the story behind the extraordinary use of human bones within the chapel.
From Sedlec, continue into the historic centre of Kutná Hora. Walk through its medieval streets with your guide and hear how silver, power, faith and everyday life shaped the town over the centuries.
Visit the Cathedral of St Barbara, built by the citizens of Kutná Hora as the town grew wealthy from silver. See its Gothic interior and hear how the cathedral reflects the wealth, ambition and mining history of the town.
There will also be plenty of time for lunch and to spend some time in Kutná Hora on your own. Wander through the historic streets, take photographs, browse the shops or simply find somewhere to sit and take in the surroundings. Lunch is not included, so you are free to choose where and what you would like to eat.
Meet your guide again and make your way back to the railway station for the return journey to Prague.
