Begin at the Palais Royal, once a royal residence and revolutionary hotbed, now a peaceful arcaded garden ringed with boutiques and Daniel Buren's striped columns. From there, slip into the Galerie Vivienne, widely considered the most beautiful of all the passages, with its mosaic floors, neoclassical reliefs, and sweeping glass ceiling.
Cross toward the Grands Boulevards and enter the Passage des Panoramas, the oldest covered passage in Paris (1799) and once home to the city's first panorama rotundas. It's a maze of stamp dealers, engravers, and small restaurants that still feels frozen in the 19th century. Next door, the Passage Jouffroy greets you with a wave of warm air from the old heating system and leads past antique shops, the Musée Grévin wax museum entrance, and a beloved vintage toy store.
Finally, cross into the Passage Verdeau, the quietest and least touristed of the five, favored by collectors of old postcards, cameras, and rare books. It's the perfect place to slow down and notice details the crowds miss.
The walk concludes at Juicy Wine Bar, a relaxed, unpretentious spot where a curated wine and cheese tasting awaits. Your guide will help you pair a selection of French wines with regional cheeses while you swap impressions of the afternoon — a fitting, unhurried close to a walk through Paris's hidden architectural history.
