Begin your tour in Piazza della Repubblica and learn about the Roman origins of the city. Then, head to Orsanmichele to discover the history of Florence's powerful guilds.
Arrive in Piazza della Signoria, the political heart of medieval Florence, and admire the open-air museum. Continue to a hidden medieval abbey, probably related to Dante, and then follow the narrow streets of the old town to the Duomo Square to admire this marble masterpiece and its dome.
Next, head to Piazza San Lorenzo to learn about the Medici, an important Florentine family that contributed to the history of the city and European art. See some wonderful churches and hear about other Florentine families who contributed to their decoration.
Enjoy a walk along the River Arno and cross it using the oldest bridge in the city. Arrive in Oltrarno, the left bank of Florence, and visit the workshop of a contemporary artist. Finally, return to the right bank and finish your tour in front of the Basilica Santa Croce, the mausoleum of famous Florentines, such as Michelangelo and Galileo Galilei.
