Access to Castel Sant'Angelo with audio guide

Situated on the right bank of the Tiber and a stone's throw away from Vatican City, it offers a fascinating journey into the past.

You'll delve into the legend of Archangel Michael who, according to lore, appeared atop the mausoleum, sheathing his sword to signal the end of the plague of 590. This event bestowed upon the castle its present name. As well as this, you'll have the chance to admire the tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian and explore the Papal corridors within the fortress.

• The official access ticket costs €16 per adult and €2 per reduced (EU aged 18–25), free for under 18 years for access to Castel Sant’Angelo. The price difference is due to the additional services included in the offer

• You can enter at any time before closing on the day booked. Last entry to Castel Sant'Angelo is at 6.30 pm
